Those who called me here in Mexico may have noticed that "bueno" is the way you answer the phone here. I guess everybody who is used to saying their name, find this a bit strange because how do you know who's talking.
Now you may say: "Well, I just can ask."And exactly that is the problem! It is considered inpolite to ask. Why? Because you didn't recognize the other person. I know, hard to understand but it's part of the Mexican culture. So they prefer pretending in case they don't know who is talking. I can imagine this already caused a lot of funny situations...

...at least I recognised your voice when gave you a call and answered as usual "Mannsi, old saw!" [Mannsi, Du alte Säge!] (I already refered about this very special way to greet someone - esp. Christian *grin*)
btw.: when you come back to Germany, I might be in Shanghai and not be able to welcome you on the airport, but thats a long story. Has something to do with my new business card, stating me as a "Manager of Strategic Purchasing & International Sales" in a part-time job I am doing actually... I'll tell you later 'bout that.
Well, well, well... You can't do without talking big, right? First you tell me I have to call you "Diplom-Wirtschaftsingenieur Massmeier" and now this one (BTW to be precise I have to say "Diplom-Wirtschaftsingenieur (FH) Massmeier", we don't want to forget the little difference;-) But it's good to know that at least some things don't change... :->
no no, I am not flying away in arrogance, it is a story really not that big. It has something to do with my uncle, I told you about that. I am only totally excited about the chance to fly to China. I only had to translate the "Dipl. Wirt.-Ing. (FH)" in English for the card and the readers of this blog. And as you know, that translation is really long... Nevertheless I'll try to call you up know *ring ring*.
So you did (I mean you called me up)... Quite amazing how people find me, no matter where I am. And I thought I was hidden really well;-)
